Warm White is used for ambient lighting in Marine and Automotive applications eg. cabins and stern lights. This gives a cosy ambience, like from an incandescent bulb. In contrast to the more clinical look from a Cool White light – such as a fluorescent.
It’s used because Cool White lights are often mistaken as stars.
Warm White, at around 3000K in colour temperature, can clearly be seen as a boat light.
