UV Flashlight Safety Notice
Purchases of UV flashlights are subject to our UV Radiation Safety Notice and UV Protective Eyewear Notice and product specific Product Safety Information (on each product page)
⚠️ UV Radiation Safety Notice ⚠️
UV flashlights emit ultraviolet radiation (UVR) and must be used with care. UV radiation can be harmful to eyes and skin, even when the light appears dim or is only visible as a faint purple/blue glow.
NEVER:
- look directly into any UV LED
- allow ULV light beams to reflect directly toward your eyes
- shine UV light directly onto your skin
- shine UV flashlights at people, animals, eyes, skin, or reflective surfaces.
ALWAYS
- Keep out of reach of children
-
Use protective eyewear suited to the specific wavelength you are using.
-
Read the safety warning on the individual product page before use
⚠️ UV Light Protective Eyewear
Ordinary sunglasses, prescription glasses, reading glasses, or fashion eyewear should not be relied on unless they are confirmed as suitable safety eyewear for the relevant UV wavelength.
For close-range, extended, or repeated use, wear safety eyewear compliant with AS/NZS 1337.1 and marked or specified as UV400.
Different UV wavelengths carry different levels of risk:
- 🛑🛑🛑 254 nm UV-C is high-risk UV-C radiation and requires controlled use, covered skin, and close-fitting wrap-around eye/face protection compliant with AS/NZS 1337.1, specifically suitable for 254 nm UV-C exposure, and designed to protect against direct and reflected UV-C from the front, sides, top and bottom.
- 🛑🛑 365 nm UV-A requires suitable UV eye protection for close-range, extended, or repeated use. Use safety eyewear compliant with AS/NZS 1337.1 and marked or specified as UV400.
- 🛑 395 nm UV-A may look like a purple/violet torch, but it is still UV radiation. For close-range, extended, or repeated use, wear safety eyewear compliant with AS/NZS 1337.1 and marked or specified as UV400.
